The Rose Doesn't Need to Be Fresh
Some time back, I went to my law college to collect my
closing certificates.
There was one person there who had helped me for three
years. Coordinating, following up, quietly making things easy.
Standing there, a thought crossed my mind. I should give
him something.
No planning. No "next time." I opened Blinkit and
ordered Bluetooth speakers. Right there.
Guess what? It made his day. And honestly, mine too.
You know, when you are working in corporate office, You tend
to plan, strategize and schedule every small task. You will build an Excel
Sheet or use some Software or add reminders in Calenders right
And slowly, the same habit walks into our homes.
We note down everything to make it happen. Even time with
the wife. Even time with the kids.
A rose for the wife. Ice cream for the kids. A surprise
visit to friends. The list gets made. The rose never reaches home. Most of us
are kind by nature. We just keep that kindness in drafts.
Imperfect kindness beats perfectly planned kindness that
never happens.
And what's our excuse, really? Blinkit delivers in 10
minutes. Zomato in 30. Our intentions? Sometimes 10 months.
So what if the rose isn't fresh? The ice cream melts a
little on the way? The toy isn't the best one?
Nobody is checking. It’s more about making them feeling
special and valued. And it's not just about what they feel. It's about what you
feel about them.
When did you last have a cup of tea with your loved ones? In
the balcony, or any quiet corner of home? No calendar invite. No reminder. No
reel. Just tea.
Real conversations. Real kindness. That should be our
Diwali mantra.
So this Diwali, don't plan kindness. Just do it.
A cup of chai for the guard at the gate. A thank you for the
support staff. A call to that one friend you spent hours in college or school.
Sometimes, just a simple smile.
Let's share a little piece of what we have with the society
around us. And make this Diwali a little kinder, happier and more thoughtful.
Whose name just crossed your mind? Tell me in comments/DM.
Happy Diwali!
